Lalzi Bay is one of the main reasons to come here: a wide sandy beach, a calm and shallow sea, beach bars, family-friendly spaces and some very pleasant places to eat or have a drink.
The beach: easy, wide and family-friendly
The sea is often calm, with few waves, a very gentle entry into the water, a sandy bottom and a progressive slope. The shallow depth over a good distance is ideal for children and very pleasant for walking in the water.
For parents, it is reassuring. For children, it is a huge playground. For couples, it is perfect for a quiet walk. And for anyone who simply wants to float while looking at the horizon, that works too. Holidays are also allowed to be unproductive.

Prices vary depending on the beach area. As an indication, we saw umbrellas around 10 € in some areas and closer to 20 € near the Meliá side. Prices can change depending on the season and the operator.
The price is often calculated per umbrella, not per person. One or two sunbeds under the same umbrella may therefore cost the same. Useful to know before negotiating with yourself internally.
The Meliá: useful, but not always our best value
The Meliá is part of the San Pietro Resort landscape. The hotel has restaurants, bars, an organised beach area and a spa with indoor pool, sauna, hammam and fitness room.
The spa can be a good option on windy days, when the sea is still cool or when you simply want a break. The restaurants are more mixed in our view: the setting is five-star, but we found the prices rather high compared with the quality, especially when compared with places such as Insifa Beach or Duka Winery.
Where to eat and drink around the bay
Not every beach bar is equal when it comes to food. That is part of the charm: you try, compare, sometimes miss, and eventually find your own places. These are the places we would start with.

Breeze Restaurant
Breeze Restaurant is inside the residence. It is practical for a coffee, a simple drink or breakfast without having to leave San Pietro. It is not the kind of place that needs a big plan: it is useful because it is close and easy.
Breeze by the Bay
Breeze by the Bay is on the beach. We like it for a drink and, personally, also for pizza — but everyone should make up their own mind. Like many places in the area, the experience can vary depending on the season and the team in place.
Insifa Beach
Insifa Beach is a family-run address known for Mediterranean cooking, seafood and attentive service. It is one of the few restaurants in the bay that remains open throughout the year, which makes it a safe choice when other places are slower or closed.
From San Pietro, you can reach Insifa by walking along the beach, but allow around 30 minutes or more depending on your pace and where you start. For dinner, we would recommend going by car or taxi rather than walking back in the dark.

Duka Winery & Vineyard
Around 15 minutes away by car, Duka Winery & Vineyard is a lovely outing during your stay. The family winery offers a refined table by a lake, house wines, modern Albanian cuisine and walks through the vines. Book ahead if possible.
We especially recommend trying their wine. Many beach bars in the area serve Italian wines, which can be perfectly fine, but it is a pity when you see how good local Albanian wine can be at Duka.
When to come: season by season
| Period | Our impression |
|---|---|
| May | Warm days, sometimes windy, with cooler evenings. Quiet, with some services still limited. |
| June | Warm, less windy and still reasonable in terms of visitors. Probably one of the best compromises. |
| July | Very hot, lively and clearly more summery, with more people and more atmosphere. |
| August | Peak season: hot, lively and sometimes louder. |
| September | Our favourite period: still warm, sea pleasant, atmosphere calmer. |
| October | Mild and very quiet, but some bars and restaurants may be closed or operating minimally. |
| November to April | Much quieter. Not a classic beach-bar-and-sunbed stay, but possible for a calm weekend, walks by the sea or a workation if you check the weather. Insifa is generally open year-round, but activity in the area is slower. |
From November to April, Lalzi Bay becomes much quieter. The sea is usually too cool for a classic swimming holiday, and weather can be more variable, but the area can still work well for a peaceful weekend, reading, walking or working remotely near the sea.
For this calmer period, we can offer longer stays and monthly rental options. Contact us directly if you would like a tailored offer.
Cash is still king
Around San Pietro Resort, cards are accepted in many places and you can usually manage without too much difficulty. Still, we strongly recommend keeping some cash with you.
Cash remains useful for taxis, beach bars, smaller restaurants, tips and everyday services. You can often pay in euros, but the exchange rate may not be in your favour, so changing some money into lek is usually a good idea.
What to understand before coming
Lalzi Bay is not a place where everything is perfectly polished yet. Tourism is developing quickly, and some things are still improving from one year to the next. But we felt that people were honest, and that matters a lot.
At first, the welcome can feel reserved, especially if you do not speak Albanian. But make a small step — a few words of English or Italian, both widely understood, or a translation app — and you will often discover warmth and genuine hospitality.
